Father's Day Fun in Cornwall

Dads are superheroes and Father’s Day is the perfect opportunity for them to take their cloak off, let down their tough-guy guard and be spoiled rotten. In recognition of all things brilliant about dads, Cornwall is putting on quite a spread of activities for Father’s Day. From den building to picnics and cart racing to card making, there’s something for everybody. We’ve searched high and low to come up with this fun list of our favourite Father’s Day events in Cornwall…


Newquay Zoo: Teddy Bear’s Picnic

If you go down to the Zoo today you’re sure of a big surprise. If you go down to the Zoo today you’ll never believe your eyes! Today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic – so bring teddy (and Dad) to the Zoo to celebrate Father’s Day. Half price entry for dads and children get in free when accompanied by an adult and of course, a Teddy Bear!

Trebah Garden: Free Entry

Trebah Garden near Falmouth is a Cornish valley garden with over four miles of footpath to explore. On Father’s Day your old man (Dad!) will get FREE entry to the gardens. The Planter’s Café will also be serving up a feast between 12:00 – 15:00.

The Monkey Sanctuary: Free Entry

Set in beautiful woodland overlooking the picturesque Cornish Coast, The Monkey Sanctuary in Looe has been offering a safe home for life to monkeys in need since 1964. Dads go free on Father’s Day as well as being able to get stuck in with bug and bat box making workshops. The Treetop Cafe will be servig up a classic favourite - Bangers and Mash - and there will be discounts on local ales and ciders.

Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa: Father’s Day Lunch

Relaxed and laid-back, the Beach View Restaurant at the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa in Newquay is like a light, bright, modern-day beach club. Just off the epic Fistral Beach, the restaurant’s skilled team know how to cook up a storm. Spoil the leading man in style on Father’s Day with a hearty three-course Sunday lunch (£14.95 per person).

Lanhydrock House, Bodmin: Dilly Carts

Lanhydrock is the perfect country house and estate, with the feel of a wealthy but unpretentious family home. This Father’s Day the annual gravity racing through the park returns. Can you make the cart with the fastest time? Fun and exhilaration for all the family.

Glendurgan Garden: Father’s Day at the Beach

Glendurgan Garden is a superb subtropical garden near Falmouth. This Father’s Day they are offering families the opportunity to discover the pretty little beach at the bottom of the Garden. Collect a 50 things scrapbook on arrival and have a go at some of the fun family activities. Have a stone skimming competition, go rockpooling or simply enjoy jumping the waves. Why not create some wild art from the things you find on the beach?

Trerice, Near Newquay: Den Building

Trerice is an intimate Elizabethan manor and a Cornish gem. Little changed by the advances in building fashions over the centuries, its renowned stillness and tranquillity is loved by visitors. However, the silence is occasionally broken and the Father’s Day weekend is one of those times! Head to Trerice on the 14th or 15th June to build your own mini manor in the form of a fun-filled den.

Trengwainton Garden: Make Father's Day

Trengwainton Garden near Penzance is a sheltered garden bursting with exotic trees and shrubs. You can lose yourself amongst winding, wooded paths and pack a picnic to enjoy by the stream. Bring Dad along to the garden and create your own unique Father's Day card for him.
