Head to Falmouth Art Gallery

A little drive from Newquay (approx. 50 mins), this gallery is a great place to enjoy some freebie family fun. It’s a firm favourite with everybody who visits it, so much so that the Telegraph named it as one of the UK’s top family friendly galleries; it also won The Guardian Kids in Museums Award.

The Falmouth Art Gallery houses an impressive collection of masterpieces by Henry Scott Tuke, Charles Napier Hemy and contemporary artists; a collection that includes work by Eve Arnold, Lee Miller and Ian Stern. It is also home to The Children’s Illustration Archive. Little nippers are bound to be inspired, especially when they spot the play tables, always well stocked with crayons and reams of paper so they can create a masterpiece of their own! Find out more…

Go on a Rainy Day Drive

The coastal roads which connect Newquay and Padstow are breathtakingly beautiful, whatever the weather. As you leave Newquay behind you will sweep through Porth, Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth with their gorgeous golden beaches and hairpin bends before picking up the narrow coastal roads that drop down into Padstow. Take a slight detour from the B3276 and you will discover the infamous Seven Bays nearby; Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Constantine, Booby’s, Mother Ivey’s and Harlyn and Trevone. Take a luxury hamper or pop into Stein's Fish and Chips for a lovely feast.

Paint a Pottery Masterpiece or Make Some Beautiful Jewellery

Here’s your chance to have fun getting messy and make some souvenirs to take home with you. At Create and Paint in nearby Redruth they will glaze and fire your hand painted masterpiece or you can paint and take home the same day. Better still, they can even incorporate precious little fingerprints into a piece of pure silver jewellery such as a pendant, charm bracelet, keyring or cufflinks, making a beautiful and unique gift to treasure.
